Wtf.
Even the fat Guy with the canoe.. On the best waves, of course, very easy for him.
And it is Sunday, the cove is packed of beginners like me, kids and relaxed locals. And the idiot with the canoe!

What do you think?

I remember in the alps, when the snowboards, the mono sky, the big foot, the carvin etc... all came, they were forced to put regulations out there: people were getting hurt or killed.
Would that happen here on crowded beaches as well??

I have had a run in with a goat boater at Mettams once. Decent swell and the R/H was firing with a steep takeoff on the reef and walling up through the middle.

Crowded but fun, chilled vibe then the goat boat came out of nowhere into the line up. I had made the drop over the reef section on a good sized set wave and was swinging up to the lip when bugger me the goat boat fell from the sky right in front of me. I grabbed the nose of the canoe and held him off landing on me as he dropped in.

Gave him a huge spray and the bastard didnt even acknowledge he nearly knocked my head off! It was my last wave so I went in, as I was getting chaged watched him do it to another bloke, unbelievable.

Unfortunatlety for the responsible goat boaters it is the age old case of a minority ruining the reputation of the majority. I have surfed will SUP and goat boaters before and mostly had a good time but you always remember the bad run in's more and they have more of an impact

Dennis Lillee used to be a PITA on his goat boat back when I was a grom ...

Apparently there's a women's top-in-the-world type competitor somewhere near me.

Natalie Fuhrmann used to be a top-in-the-world type competitor back in the Dennis Lillee days, they used to often be out together, especially down south.

Know of a couple of good goat boaters these days. Both very respectful and good people to be in the water with.

I've been run over by Dennis Lillee many times back in the day and it didn't matter how much abuse you through at him he always had more to throw back at you.

He was usually sideways and out of control but at least he didn't discriminate, he would drop in and run everybody over, even other goat boats.

I remember seeing DK paddle around the point at south point a few times. He seemed like he knew what he was doing but i remember him burning a few blokes. Canoes are a bit of a joke in the water. Seems like there are no rapids so they try the surf but it never really works out for them. They can only go straight so there impact is minimal usually. In regards to rules there are so many you cant help but break them. Try yelling at the bloke it might not change his behavior but you will feel better.

Mt previous experience with Goat boats was way back 25 years ago getting a board trashed by one at Trigg. Recently one has paddled out at my local and he is actually really good. Takes some great drops on big days and is well adapt at his chosen craft. We call him smiley and he has a constant grin from ear to ear

I will say on a wild.day a few weeks back there were only two people in the water....yep goat boats, and these blokes absolutely killed it. Big and nasty,I joked with the lifeguard to start warming up for a rescue,he told me their sweet, they only go out when it's stupid.

BUt I will agree with a previous post, because the do stand out so much it does only take one to make them all look like dick heads. And since there are thousands of surfers who are retarded we tend to not acknowledge because it is so common._

I remember surfing N Point with one about 15 years ago. Was probably 4 to 6 on the sets and pretty sketchy and he was sitting that deep it was crazy. He'd paddle like f#ck just before it sucked right out turn and literally freefall straight into the barrel. So impressive to watch. He copped some good floggings but made more than he got hammered on. No way you'd get me strapped onto a chunk of fiberglass surfing that wave.

Yeah back in the mid 80's, she was on the news a couple of times back then. Probably the only time I can recall surf ski's getting a mention now that I think of it lol...Used to see her at the beach all the time & at school coz she was my phys ed teacher at Carine. Dennis Lillee used to live close by in Karrinyup (I was in Cromer Wy). We used to knock on doors collecting cool drink bottles to cash in around there & he answered the door a couple of times...ahhh the good old days with deli's you could individually select your custom bag of lollies
