I've heard great things about the Chillhouse from a few mates that have stayed there, might be worth a look www.thechillhouse.com/

I know you've specified Caangu, but have you thought about Sanur? Heaps more options so may get a little more bang for your buck. Couple of beachies about 10-15 minute drive from sanur if you want the young ones to have a paddle.

I haven't stayed at a beach villa in Canggu. Last time I was there we stayed a little closer to Seminyak which was good for the girls, and still walking distance to Berawa: "Villa Bali Asri" in Batubelig.

Ha. Love the blurb on the pondok site:

pondoknyoman.com/
"There are two surf spots available at this surf point with powerful, fast and barrel waves that make this beach as one of the best surf points in Bali Island. The beach is blessed by the breathtaking view and spectacular sunset at the late afternoon that creates the romantic nuance cover the entire coastal area and makes all visitors love to stay longer..."

Bali Dream are fantastic villas and a short ride to the waves.

In saying that I wouldn't go back to Canguu as you may as well surf in a sewer. If the waves are a decent size and you swallow water then you will want a villa with a nice bathroom as that is where you will spend the rest of your holiday

Righto, surfed Canggu a few times last time we were in Bali 2012. Maybe we will look elsewhere e.g. Sanur side. Thanks for your input.

Was in canggu a couple days ago
Funny enough stayed at nyoman pondok wisata
Nice place, wouldn't want to be there with kids but.
Pantai indah the villa next door is where we go of we have kids and family in tow. . Bit pricey but nucking futs place and Made and Ketut take awesome care of everything.

But man canggu has changed...
It was always going the way of the latte Beach disco tosser hipster brigade. .. but how much it has changed since i Was here last in February.....

Its worth spending a day traveling each way and heading to other islands. .
