So just spent a few days in Albany and the water was bloody cold so ended up looking at a few new wetties whilst in town.

ended up getting myself a new XCEL Infinity suit that i liked the look of and was happy with that. Haven't tried it in the water but i will say in the change room it was very toasty

But today i decided to search a bit about the company online as i hadn't seen them before. The girl told me about them and gave me all the gaff and i was impressed with the product so was happy with the purchase from a product point of view

I paid $449 which i thought was high for a suit but still cheaper than the expensive brand. But today on line i see i can buy it from Surfstich for $337 or offshore for $266 with free postage

Now my new purchase just makes me feel violated

At least you didnt buy it for $266 online without trying it on, buy the wrong size and waste the money...

Yeah that would be nasty

I've done a little more research and it would apear that the net is bucket loads cheaper than retail shops. Having said that i feel a bit better.

Anyone used these suits

I haven't used these before, but they are very popular here in Europe, actually they are just about as well known as any of the other big 3 wetsuits, and just as expensive.

I am on my second XCEL and they are definitely one of the more flexi designs going around, got an Infinity in Perth 2 weeks ago while sales were on. Won't tell you how much but timing was good.
My last one was an Xzip I think, lasted 2 seasons before rubber started to perish around the neck.
I also bought a Billabong SGX earlier this year but gave that to the missus because it was to small, super warm thoough

I always thought that Rip Curl owned Peak Mac?

A bummer JB but after 200 wears the marginal cost will be minimal and you will be smiling again

Rip curl own peak, bong owns xcel, vz, palmers (kustom) and a list of others including surfstitch. Irrelevant who owns what as long as you are happy with the product, xcel are very good. enjoy JB.

When You buy from a mum and dad business,
You are not helping a CEO buy a third vaction home.

You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get footy boots, a mum or dad put food on the table, a family pay a morgage or a student pay for Uni.

Our customers are our share holders and they are the ones we strive to make happy

Thank you for supporting small businesses and keeping it in WA

Not to mention building a report with the local surf store. It gets to a point where they knock off a few dollars every time you shop there. Over a year that can add up to a substantial amount if you are in every so often grabbing wax, new boardies etc.

Not to mention a good chat about surfing instead of being greeted by a check out chick obviously hungover and in no mood for customer service at your local supermarket.

Yep cheap buying on the internet may save a few dollars but at the end of the day if we all jump on this bandwagon no more surf shops, bike shops and lots of other mums and dads retail.

I dont think many surf shop owners are making any great fortune at the prices they have to pay.

Staff, rent electricty etc

I rather pay a bit more knowing it keeps the local community going.

Your preaching to the converted about supporting local. The shop i bought it from isn't my local, in fact was in Albany and i would have spent close to $1100 in just that shop whilst on 4 days holiday. ( I like to shop with kids when i'm on holidays).

It was more that i thought i had been cheated on even the local retail price in shops. That wasn't the case and i guess i paid more than some but less than others.

My local shop hates it though, as i tend to always buy big when on a break away but i still have a great re-pore with them. Sadly with two growing kids, a wife plus myself it seems a weekly trip for me. We are all in first name basis
