Got my daughter started on a 6'8" softie.

She then progressed very quickly to an ultra light exopy mini-mal (Sunova). She now rides a 5'10" thruster. Along the way she also rode a 5'10" fish which she found really good in the small conditions here (Perth).

This seemed to work well for her especially starting out on the high volume softie which seemed to leap frog her to the standing up stage in no time at all!

my girlfriend learnt on a 6'0 soft board.

was good because she wasn't scared of getting hit by it in the surf.

I would think all of those boards are a bit thin and narrow for best results. Ideally you might look for 19 - 20" wide and over 2 3/4" thick. That being said you could get by on the others if she is keen and not super big.

my daughter started same age
need wide floaty board as they will be just catching foamy reforms and need a stable platform

el nino's good but fragile
redbacks the same but even less durable

surftech softtop very good, all my family wife has learnt on it - deck is a bit abrasive so need rashie or wette

The red back isn't a good board for learning - our young guy found it too unstable. A board around 6'4 - 6'8 fairly chunky - even an 80's or early 90's style $100 thruster is good but they will get smacked in the head. G board would be perfect but they are $$$$ but easier to stand up on.

Have fun.
