Hard to say without knowing your ability, height/weight, and the kind of waves your going to surf...

I'd suggest going for some form of Fish shape. Check the GSI site and look at the 7S brand - a 6'3" would still have plenty of volume and ease of paddling. The Quad config is the way to go with these boards... fast and reasonably loose.

I'm sure others will tell you to go to a more traditional SB shape/profile...

My suggestion would be don't change until you can throw around the 7'2.

Far too many people going short before they're ready. If you can get speed and use your rails all boards are loose and can be turned.

Far easier to learn the technique on something bigger than going to something smaller and making the process even longer.

I agree with CMC - my reply was presuming you were at that stage already...

I had a custom 7'6" mini-mal that I could really throw around... used to get lots of comments/questions about it... only just sold it after 4.5yrs of being my 'go to' board (and that's only cause it was well and truly passed it's best - the glass was lifting off the blank at the rear foot spot).

Yeah I agree with CMC. If you can hold onto the old stick. Its great to try new boards and sometimes the only way to find out if a certain board is right for you is to give it a go. It can be a costly experiment if it goes wrong. Maybee see if you can pick up second hander. Good luck.
