After recommendations for my sister. Currently riding a 7'6 minimal

She has the basics down and the board is perfect for her skill level. BUT she is going traveling (Bali and South America) with her boyfriend and wants something that's a little easier to get around with.

Any suggestions? Something that still has some volume and stability but shorter

I'm in the same boat and have been recommended the Firewire Spitfire, JS Revolution and the HS Hypto Krypto

Looking for more volume to length than the revolution but the spitfire looks alright. Thanks

You have not listed your sisters weight & height etc but I would get her on a 6 - 6'2" fish type board thats about 20 to 21 wide and 2.5 to 2 5/8 thick. She will paddle something like that a piece of cake and it will be a lot nicer to handle round airports and travel etc. She will no doubt struggle at first with the height but it will take her long to get used to it. Soon she will probably want something even smaller. I imagine that she will not want to be out in waves that exceed the limitations of a smaller fish just yet. She can probably pick up a decent one second hand for around $350 easily if not cheaper. Firewires are great for chicks I reckon - nice and light.

just my 2c but maybe have a look at something like on of the 7s boards or the firewire sweet potatoes they tend to have alot of volume for smaller boards and would probably be better for someone who has developing skills

Yea she's 5'8 (ish) and average build. Thats the sort of shape/dims I was thinking ted.

She's pretty coordinated so I reckon she'll get used to it real quick

Check out The ECS Bulldog sold through eBay. Pretty similar dimensions to Teds suggestion. I've got a 6'2 and it paddles better than my wife's minimal and goes well up to head and a half. Pretty cheap also.
