Hi Guys just wondering what I should be paying for a mini van and driver to take me around for the day to go surfing.

Cheers

25,000 Rp for for 4hrs, 40,000 Rp for 8hrs if there's not too much driving, 45,000 Rp for 8hrs if there's a lot of driving & 50,000 Rp if there's a lot of driving & your driver does more than drive. Like if he acts like a guide explaining the history & culture of places your visiting. 50,000 Rp for each hour after 8hrs. Make sure you see the blokes car first & ask if the AC is working, before you negotiate with the freelances on the street.

add an extra zero onto Micks numbers then they are correct.

so about $40 get you a driver for quite a bit of the day. just bargain with them.

Or for the same price as a driver get yourself a guide for the day. They will know the best spots to hit given the tide and winds. The will also get you wired in on the spot your surfing.

I use a surf guide for my trips to Bali and I have always scored (swell permitting). They generally know some out of the way breaks that you can get to yourself which, given the crowds in bali, can be worth every penny spent.

Check out World Surf Safaris and ask for Putu to be your guide.

Have a chat to Slim at www.baliwaves.com

He can collect you from your accom and take you to wherever you want, or wherever is firing on the day. You surf until you've had enough, then they take you for a feed and drop you back home with a CD full of photos documenting your day of ripping/kooking.

All for about $45 per head for the day. Great value and great guys. I'll definitely be booking with them again.

+ 1 for me. Don't know if its the same Putu but the guy was an absolute legend for us. Learnt more about the islands breaks in 10 days than what would have taken me numerous trips to figure out by myself. He even gave us his empty beer bottles to trade in on slabs for. Best intro to Bali ever for the first timer.
