What do you guys find is the best way to bail when you find no way out without getting hurt.

Fire up and charge it till the death brother

Alternatively turn into the wave and come out the back from underneath . Front side this is easy , backside need to grab ur outside rail and almost bog ur inside rail and try to keep the nose of your board down .

It's even worse when you're a cripple, hard to get away from your board when on your knees.

Well if there is no way out with out getting hurt, then there is no good way.

I'm an optimist, I never bail out. The best barrels of my life I thought I had no chance of making.

I find in most cases if you always try n make it no matter what you end up in the center of the spinning vortex of water that is the wave. The longer you hold on the more time the wave has to expel its more violent energy with a well timed and directed dive delivering you out the back of the wave unscathed. Worst thing you can do is end up in the lip as it will often go all the way to the bottom n if your in it your going there too.

Going back to that spinning vortex of water idea the outside of it moves faster than the center so keep your eyes on the prize, stay centred and focus on gettin outta that thing.

Ha ha love watching a mate charge a closeout and not even look like bailing - eyes on the prize as it closes down on him ha ha

Forehand I try and kick board out in front and try and slink in through the back of the wave, does not always work!

Backhand is harder and have been hurt trying to get away from that, tends to pick me up and throw me over the falls with board close behind

Good question - Victory or Death most riders bail too early , take the chance and run deep in the pocket it's also the out through the back of the wave or you might just fluke it.
