With the change of seasons upon us it's almost time to start overloading our cars with people and hitting the surf
Here's a few tips to get you started
Firstly you have to stalk the surf reports. Make sure it's small
Then pick a spot far from home (at least an hr) for maximum effect
Maybe a spot that your grandparents went fishing 25yrs ago
That should be good enough for local status
Also stack those boards a metre high on the roof so you can fit more people in the car
Make sure those people also froth hard and don't take too long to get ready. You all need to get in the water at the same time
Most importantly choose a spot or a sand bank that only has a few guys out. You will all be welcomed with closed fists when you all paddle out together
Doesn't matter if it's a weekend or a weekday the Internet will give you the thumbs up when it's time

For me the biggest problem is people who feel they have to paddle for every single wave and think that just because they keep on paddling back out to the inside they have right of way on every wave. I don't bother calling people on it because i surf to relax, but that definitely irks me.

if someone is rude enough to continually paddle inside you then you are completely justified in being rude enough to drop in on them.......snapper might be an exception and if they look like mike tyson or sunny garcia then the old own risk rule applies...!

Agree with both of you 100%...

It's what I call a family paddle
When the entire lineup all paddle for the same wave
It's what I look for when I'm checking a spot
If this is the case I'd rather chew my own arm off than join them
In most cases though people "gotta get wet" and head out oblivious to the chaos that awaits

None from my way. My mates think that surfings for '****'s' as 1 of them put it (sorry about the language). Fine by me, the lesser in the line up .

I haven't surfed the regular local breaks for a while but i will say i have enjoyed all my surfs. I normally just paddle out, sit and wait my turn and then jump in. I will say i never used think too much about were i sat in the group. I always would let those out first take priority and then I'd jump in from there.
Haven't yet met any aggro yet. I have found a few young guns like to take every wave but a quick paddle in front of them and they step back and start going turn about turn.
The worst i find are still bin lidders..But often they like different waves then me anyway so no biggie.

Sorry to say though i like to surf with a crowd though. I enjoy the time with mates almost as much sometimes as the surf itself.
