Has anyone tried Vessel surfboards before? (Aka surfboard warehouse I think). Mainly shortboards. Are they good? What about their performance?

I read from an old forum from 2019, a lot of them say that the SBWH boards are damn strong, but I don't see the models they talk about on the SBWH offical website, don't know if they are still keeping this feature on the recently boards.

I have a friend who's got a Zephyr Ecotech, it looks good, I haven't tried his board yet. But according to their offical website, a 6'0'' Zephyr's got 38L volume. Will that be too much volume for a shortbaord?

It would be super helpful if anyone who has surfed one could give some opinions about these factors.

1. duck dive big waves
2. paddle
3. stability
4. responsive
5. bump absorption
6. durability (easy to snap?)

I bought one years ago for a rehab board (extra volume) they were cheap and it went OK but I was never going to keep as my regular stick, glass job was what you paid for fin boxes have since cracked the glass around them but it still floats.

Not sure of todays quality but none of the cheap imports will match local shapers still you will pay more for the local boards.

Thanks for the sharing. Indeed local shapers do make decent job, I do have to consider the performance of the board. But since it's cheap, I may try one. BTW, may I ask what's the model you bought for?

I flipped one last year. Was heavy and sluggish.

I had a model that they no longer make. It's still one of the best boards I have ever owned. The construction was truly appalling and when it got dinged it fell apart. I know two repairers who refuse to fix them because the are so crappily built they can't be repaired properly easily.

Still, until I collided with someone (all my fault sadly) the board held up and performed sensationally. So much so I am probably getting a local shaper to make a copy of it for me this year.

Ps: I pulled the old faithful out for one more surf about a month ago. Still a sick board, just no longer truly water tight and ugly as a hat full of a**h***s.

I bought a second hand AQSS Vintage Log in good condition at the time.
Worst board i have ever bought.
The leggie ripped through the glass and foam destroying the nose after a wipeout.
Dinged way to easily.
Rails split .
Fin box smashed out after fin tapped the reef.
Totally water logged and ways a ton.
Lasted a few weeks
Never again.
I've learnt my lesson.
Pay the money and get an Aussie made board, can often find a good one second hand or go custom.

What about sideways surfboards ?

It seems like I have neglected a lot for the surfboard warehouse. So apparently for their surfboard (hard board only), there are quite a few brands. Vessel, AQSS, Island Style, Island, JIMZ. And Vessel only have shortboard (which I'm focusing in this post).
It seems like the performance of the boards they have really varies from board to board. Some models are decent and some are crap. You really have to try them before you know. (They probably don't test their model since this is the case?)

I searched for that, it seems like more and more cheap boards are arousing in Australia . I am really interested.

It was a 6'8" Delta, remember it was a rehab board wanted the length and volume never intended to keep or use long term (still hanging in the garage...).

TBH all boards work to some degree just choose one that will progress your surfing or suit the intended waves thats where local shapers can help but only if you are completely honest as to where you are currently at.

Thanks mate. 6'8'' is too long for me but a great length for my girlfriend though .
I only have access to ****ty waves, either small and soft or bigger but wipe out very often. I should be using a fish for the small waves but I'm using a shortboard (6'0'', 32L, can surf but hard to come across suitable waves) instead. And I'm yet to expanding my own board collection. Maybe I'll try a hybrid for my next board.
