Any body stayed at Aman Gati before and surfed Lakey's etc etc

im sure everyones stayed/eaten at the Gati before once in there lifetime. bit older? don't like roughing it? this is the place for you. As for Lakey's? its the sickest setup in the world and handles any swell. the downsides? staying longer than 2 weeks can do your head in with boredom out of the surf , its a long way there even from the airport and town , the Peak is always chokas and the wind can be ify round lunchtime. in saying that, its the best adventure to travel there and some sweet sweet memories of the peak and pipe.

Thanks Synsies,yeah the treck to the joint sounds epic but I am old and like my comfort and if you never go you never know!!

ahhh arriving at midnight into the town after overlanding it on local buses from bali only to be surrounded by machete wielding locals is forever etched into my mind..

with backs to the wall we finally agreed to pay a bit more than the going rate for the van ride out to lakeys....

We use to sleep on the beach on our board bags with a mosquito net propt up by sticks,
but back then,there wasnt any surf camps so had to ruff it.Hell,the waves didnt even have a name,,we just use to call it heaven.

Was well worth the effort of carrying in all your food and water though(took 2 days to get there back then),,,no one else there,surfing with only ya mates.

The pic was taken by me,only 4 other mates in the water.Pipe , nungers(spelling)and periscopes all cracking but no one else around to surf them.

I've been to Lakeys a bit over the past 10 years, and would rather stay at one of the other surf camps (1/4 the price) if I'm with the boys, but they are all a lot more basic than AG.

Last time I took my wife with me, so we stayed at Aman Gati in the "blue house". It was really nice. Hardly extravagant, but well worth the extra cash to have our own beachside bungalow with views of the sunset over the peak each arvo!

We will be back.

How is it a "trek" to get there now? It's a 1 hour flight from Bali followed by a two hour taxi ride...

Aman Gati used to provid there own transfers from airport ,but somthing happend there and now the local aport Beamos provid the service NOT AS GOOD! some of them have social issuse and can't speak English and could be a bit strange, but other than that Aman Gati is the best place to stay at Lakeys . There could be 20 guys on the Peak but only 3 or 4 at Pipe,it's your choice.

I've heard Pipe is a high tide wave a bit hairy at low ?
