Dear forum,

I am enjoying my minimal a lot nsp 7.6: a started few month back and I surf mostly at scarborough beach.
Waves r not great for a beginner there, but I have my fun.
I am also trying a custom fish from a friend, a it works well so I am ready to take the next step.
Coming to a new board I am looking at you for help.
Super fish ? An hybrid?
I think 6.6 should be ok: any recommendations?

Cheers

I had a 7S super fish for about the same reason about 18 months ago. Surf coach suggested a 'hybrid' ripcurl T-REx 6'10" to get more waves (he had some in his shop!) . So got one, and I started getting more waves.
Brother said I needed something smaller that I could do some turns on, but would still catch waves so opted for a 6'2" JR Voodoo.. Very happy on both fronts,,, catches waves, and turns.. Its got more foam than you can shake a stick at. but I'm 80kgs, 6'1" high and olda. -- (I hope Legion not gonna tell me I'm only 3 ft )

If you feel the need,, and want to borrow my T-Rex for a couple of days to try a "hybrid" PM me. I hardly use it..
I'm not far from Scarbs, and I understand the beginner grief.. it might be a bit long for you though.. and in 12 months you'll be wanting something shorter methinks.. unless your 6'6" and 100kgs+

So long as you have wife, girlfriend, or daughter to leave as collateral. (or similar)... PM me we'll hook up some time, if you're not a serial killer..

OK Busa ,, so you're not a serial killer.
Surfing 5-6 days a week for 6 months ??

Forget the mal, forget the hybrid idea, forget your mates yella terra (fish/mal thing)
You can paddle, catch waves, stand up ,slide a little on that fish/mal thing.

You gonna want something that you can turn very soon.
Go for something wide enough and thick enough to keep you catching waves, but short enough to throw in some turns.

You also gonna need some better waves than what we were pfaffing about in at Trigg .

You need some soft 2-3 foot waves with a face you can play with for 30-50+ meters.

You need to google some surfing etiquette vids.
You need to bone up on your duck diving, (not real easy on a mini-mal) , some good vids floating around.

Be prepared to travel a little further, check the surf forecasts,, and have some fun..

oh and get used to not being able to touch the bottom, or breaking a fin on 2ft deep sand banks !!

Ciao !!
