In a nutshell, no. It depends on what you are using it for... For going straight, single fin boards are usually better at trimming and they go faster. ie: tube riding. For turning, thrusters are usually better.
Also, single fins have
style.
As Kearnsy said, if you want a thruster, go get a board which was designed to have three fins. Don't wreck a piece of surfing history!
