I'm after a new stick for when we get some decent conditions. Probably won't get used this summer but hey, keeps me from dreaming and whinging about living in Perth Most likely it will be your typical HPSB shape - square tail, rails med-low etc with enough volume to float me. Thing is now - the fins. Is there any benefits of going for a singularly shaped fin board i.e. pure thruster or pure quad? As opposed to a 5 fin? Do the bottom contours of the board change? I started on thrusters, rode quads for a bit but have now come back to thrusters again as my preferred type of boards. That and twins for when it is little and singles for when I want a bit of change.

I believe the shape will usually be suited to the fin set up ,most are determined by the tail width and shape
you will also save some weight and drag even if its only minimal.

Anecdotal evidence on five finned boards seems to be that they usually go better as a thruster OR a quad, not usually performing well at both.
