www.redbull.com/gb-en/events/red-bull-unleashed-2015 Is this the shorter version of the game. No waiting periods level field five waves each in a heat and move on. No angry locals giving up there patch. No sharks.

I cant See there being a world tour of surf pools but it will be interesting to watch

Unfortunately the wave is too weak for most surfers to show any real variation other than reo after reo. Bring on Greg Weber's version

1+ ^ reminds me of the wadi adventure wave pool in al ain. pros make it look good, average surfer doesn't get a huge amount of joy from it.

So none of you guys in the wave mecca of Perth would want access to a wave like that on a daily basis? Looks better than on most days you get according to your daily surf report thread

Ted I never mentioned anything about not wanting one in Perth and I would love to have a go but watching people surf it is pretty boring. I saw some footage of Kalani Robb and even he didn't make it look good. In defence it may be a different story if they let Filipe Toledo loose in there.

wowee...

to surf at Snowdonia it costs $1226 for a 20 hour pre paid package. $61 an hour..... That's pretty exxy... However, reading on their website it's limited to 3 surfers in the water (assuming each side of the lagoon) at any one time with waves coming every 90 seconds. So 40 waves an hour gives around 13 waves per surfer if you catch all of them. $4.70 per wave at 15 seconds per ride. I'd love to give it a crack, but 20 hours surfing is the cost of a new board and wetty....

Learners and intermediates get discounted rates as they surf in different parts of the pool, but still very expensive.

I'd book in an hour a week For sure. Especially in summer. You boys are right but it does look a little soft and almost to repedative for a surf comp. Should be interesting. Chopes looked good yesterdaY. Jon Jon barrel show.

It's pretty expensive considering I went out at my local point break yesterday even when it was crowded and probably got easily 20 waves in 4 hours and it cost me about $1 in fuel.

The wavegarden just looks gutless and uninspiring. Maybe if they actually bum up the power of the wave, but so far I'm not really impressed.

Seems there is still some work to be done on this - interesting take on the place.

I really hope they can pull it off - competition is great with these new technologies. I hope there is enough demand to justify further investment in this space. I am sure there are lots of interested parties watching very closely how this space develops. Just think how far water parks have come in recent times - let alone technologies in general. The first smart phones were crap and now look at them. The good stuff does not happen overnight as a general rule. Now that there is finally a scale model built and if it proves to work financially then others will step up to the plate with their hard earned. Maybe in 10 years we will get what we all want. I am remaining positive. Anything to spread the crowds gets my vote. It's clear that surfing will not be getting any less crowded unless someone else can invent in a new cool leisure activity that drags the new recruits away from the surf.
