the biggest surf on the west coast for a while with all the tassie big wave surfers on board . even one brave man on a paddle board .

He was the first 666 to ride at shippies, my local repair guy has the board at his place in 2 pieces, he gave it to a mate and said he could have it if he got it fixed I, I don't recon we will see it at shippies again !

was filmed by a local bloke who is a mad keen surfer .he reckons the waves were 10 foot plus ,he said pretty much the same as ted would have loved to hae been out there but just too big .
apparently a couple of them got hammered paddling out off the point . if you look at the close ups near the point they are padddling out through some pretty thick seakelp as well which makes it pretty tough going .

yes TD that was the deciding factor for me - a couple of those bigger clean up sets were beyond my threshold. The rock jump looked entertaining and the wider ones were not pretty. It was not breaking that hard by the look of it but there was a fair amount of water moving and I reckon it would have given you a good flogging if you gave it half a chance I loved the action around the 4:33 mark....nice drop and tuck in. It looked like he was going to get bumped off but he pulled it together well and pulled in....nice work.

As for the 666 at Shippies - yes that was Kyron. It wasn't a massive swell but its was fairly chunky. Hats off to him - he charges. He also makes some wicked video clips. His Tassie ones from a few yrs back are still the benchmark I reckon. One of them showed him doing some crazy jumps on his kite board - he is mad that fella. I would post them but would fear for my life if I put something resembling a 666 clip up in the greenroom. LL could get away with it. I hope he continues his run of good fortune and records it for us to enjoy.

looks like we will be seeing a bit more 666 at shippies, a few of the tassie big wave boys got 666 boards for christmas and are keen to get into some big stuff when they hone their skills, wouldn't want to be the company giving them the boards !

I first met Kyron at one of the first sup comps on the GC,he was a flat mate of a friend of mine.He was just taking the piss and told me he was going to do switch foot and have fun,he won his heat but kept dicking around in his next heat,he is one funny guy.I don't think anyone took him seriously but I think they all look up to him now.Charges and makes the best sup clips getting around.
