ok here is my funny story, well it is now to me 3ft beachies with a heavy shore break. caught a few fun ones then pulling off before the dump into the sand. then on THE wave,i dropped down and worked it a bit till i got to the dump section, this time it looked like it might hold up for a barrel so i tucked and went for it. i then saw the sand dredging so i flicked the egg to shore and dived under the wave. as i felt the wave pass over me i felt a massive tug on my leggie. i then had this massive smash in my lower leg,i knew it was my fin and i knew it was going to be bad as i felt no pain(thank god for shock) the board had come back at me like a spear gun. got on my board and all i could see was blood. once i was near the beach i was already looking to shore for help. got on the sand and looked down and i could see most off my calf muscle hanging out near my ankle. there was a bunch off japo tourists a few hundred metres down and a old lady having her morning walk. i walked towards her and asked could she call a ambo. She was why? i said my leg is hurt, she looked down at my leg with phone in hand then looked back at my face and hit the sand.

i thought off just taking her phone yet i didnt and helped her get back to her feet. she then nervously walked with me till i got the showers panicking with the pain in the arse 000 system we have on the phones. as i was washing my leg under the shower it really started to kick in that this aint so good. i made it to the car and opened it up and put my board in grabbed a shirt and tied a torniqet around my leg and grabbed a towel which i used to compress the wound with my leg elevated on the gutter. a couple walked by and the lady was a nurse and she held the towel on my leg for me. as i was waiting for the ambo i was cracking jokes trying to trick myself into thinking all is well. it seemed like ages and the blood had started to spill into the gutter like a rainy day. then people were all around me. idiots saying thing like,he will bleed to death,he will lose his leg and helpful crap like that panic was starting to kick in now and then this young bloke pull up in his pimped out ride and asks to have a look. im thinking fark off idiot, till explained that he is a reconstructive plastic surgeon. he had a look and told me that it it just looks bad

and not to worry, its fine. he then told me to get in his truck and will take me straight to hospital thats when the ambo pulled up lots off drugs and i was cracking jokes again. so there it is. i am so stoked at the care i got at gold coast hospital, from everyone as i tend to get into mischief when im bored and off my guts the nurse the doctors, the wardies and the cleaners who kept me out of trouble when i was in places where i should not have been i am so proud to be a aussie and especially would like to thank the old cougar who helped me and the nurse who didnt care about herself an just got in there the good old aussie way, knee deep in my blood and just did what she could as best as the situation would allow. said i will tell the story so there it is. 200 stitches later and a few more weeks and will be wet again. also a massive thanks to my breeze family who made me laugh the whole way. a big big thanks to mac and asea for all their support. but the biggest thanks is to my girl for not putting all my boards on ebay

Can I just say, hats off to Channel 9 for their broadcast. Camera work, and slow motion slow speed shutters in full colour.... amazing !!

They have found a really good anchor man who is slowly taking over from Richie. Keep in mind that Richie is 81. Yes, 81 !!
