I had a hellfire that went great, but the deep double concaves & epoxy stressed the soft tissue in my ankles after a few months. Great board if your looking for something that'll surf, waist to double over head. Paddles in easy, turns on a dime. The dominator & spitfire are great boards as well. They're all very similar in shape, basically your modern short & wide board

I have owned two of their weapons - the Sweep Potato which I it's prime was the most fun board I had ever owned. made surfing waves at knee height n weak possible n fun. As time went by i surfed it right up to solid 4ft plus conditions on some nasty reefs and it went like a dream. It's been an incredible board.

I also have a Potatonatnor which I have had about 5 months now and it's also been an incredible purchase. it's incredibly versatile. From 1to 6 ft. Ok so it's not as good as a SP when it's tiny but it still works and it holds in on the bigger days despite its wide tail. It's a lot more controlled than the SP and is just a solid all round board.

Construction wise stick to the FST or the newer on - keep away from rapidfire.

I have heard lots of positive feedback re the hellfire n the Dominator. The Tommo designs are obviously getting rave reviews as you we'll know. Not sure about their longboards - several people have thought they were too light - never ridden one myself so can not comment too much.

all in all I think they make some great toys and I have no problem recommending them to anyone.

I had an FST which snapped for no real reason on its 3rd surf. They replaced it and the replacent is pretty much indestructible. I still have it and it looks pretty new. Put it on gumtree a while back and was getting offers within $100 of a new one but ended up deciding to keep it. They seem to hold their value,
Ted and Mick how have yours held up did you find FST pretty strong or at least stronger than PU?

Since you already have a nano, as do I, why not look at a Hellfire.
If I didn't have my nano I'd buy another potatonator in a heartbeat.
Started a thread over on the Firewire forum when the potatonator first came out which ended up being like a book it was so long.
Tried out a slew of fin combos which I documented in the first few pages if anyone needs some fin ideas for one.

Ive got a SP that i use in summer with the kids and as Ted says it goes in any kind of ripple,
I have and love to death my HF. Best board I've owned in a long time. So fun to ride and paddles very well still, even after I've put a little too much weight back on. As a quad it is super fast, almost to fast for me to top to bottom turn on with it. Surfing it as a thruster it turns well and I'm very happy. Its a keeper.

I just bought a Dominator and so far not as convinced, as i think what i wanted out if it i didn't get. Just trying different fin configurations before i 100% decide..But happy enough its a 6'2" the HF is 6'4" and the SP is 5'10" and I'm currently around 95 kilos.

I haven't ridden a Fire Wire Longboard, but I've picked one up... Put it under the arm... I think it was a High-Performance Model, and seemed quite low in volume... I'm sure they are great boards, if you want a high performance board like that...

I sold my 6'0 hellfire a couple of years ago...I put 2 dings in it at the racetrack Ulu's, dead low tide. For what happened it held up very well, super sucky head height waves onto knee deep water. I had to dive through a closeout section & the board got drilled, pulling on my leggy & popped up looking a lot better than a PU would have. The dings were a 5 min solez job. The week before that I was ditching it at double overhead lacerations. I reckon they're very strong, but also very stiff which can be a little bit hard on the body in West Oz lumps n bumps. I would like a 6'2 or 6'4 hellfire to use in cleaner overhead conditions

They go great with Solus fins, surfs better as a thruster than a quad. Still very fast coz of those deep concaves & the step down rail in the backhelping the wide tail dig in

Would you be interested in trading the 6'4 hellfire for a new condition 6'2 Hayden Shapes Psychedelic Germ Its recommended for 95kg & has a little too much volume for me.

Hey lads l have a 6" nano which has 38lts. Too much for sure but I,be learnt to deal with t and well I can get a lot of waves on it and in the small. I have a Campbell bros twinnie fin I traded for the maroon / purple board coming. Its 6'2 x 20 3/4x2 1/2. Google it. They look awesome. I love a good twinnie but I also like a touch of length in my boards. Its not like I'm going to have trouble turning after 666,s. I felt like the nano could do what the purple board could do. Also have a cw 8" er ready tomorrow. That was for the HP lb I traded back to SDR.

Last good shortie I had was a Dhd coffee bean but done in the Hayden style. Its a deal they had going for a while.

So I like the epoxy shorties from 666ing and I wa thinking I could do with a standard type sb hence my interest in the hell fire. How versatile is it

Cheers PS where did old man Mac macaha go

Intriguing, but i do really like the HF. Especially in clean conditions. Thats why I'm busting so hard to get it to Hawaii with me..So sadly no..

I just got today a set of Medium Jordy fins to try in the Dom. Hopefully it loosens up a bit..

Run some big twin fins like MR tfx's with a small trailer in the dom and it'll feel drivey but loose. I demoed a dom years ago with this set up and it felt good.

^ +1 on that, that's why the Solus work so well with those shapes. It has drivey sides with basically a rear cutaway fin

It will go great in Hawaiii, its a versatile board. But yeah I don't like riding it over lumps n bumps. Not coz of the shape, but coz of its construction. The Haydenshapes construction is epoxy also, but has a lot more flex...I wanted your HF as my go to board for Bali in September
