Now I will list all the things I am jealous about
those waves
the nose riding
and the cross stepping

Particularly the last as he makes it look like dancing compared to my short board inflenced shuffle

just watched it again....aahhhhh seems miles away from here this morning - stuck on the 8th floor of an old office block at the Uni steering out over the new buildings been built....its miserable - light rain and an onshore wind - definitely a work day today sadly....Nossa is one of my fav spots in Australia - remember my first trip there around Easter 2000 or 2001 and we lucked into a boomer of a swell.....had it at 1.5 overhead for 4 days straight out at TT.......thought it was just normal like Raglan ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Never seen anything close to resembling those waves the last 5 times I have been there.....still hoping that one day I will get it like that again. Although I do recall the car park being full at 5am and the number of people at Nationals was out of control. Was a great roadie that one - we surfed Kirra on the way back at 4 ft - best surf I have ever had...........absolute heaven the 1.5 hrs I had out there that day. We paddled out just as a shift change was occurring and lucked into what could only be termed as uncrowded perfection. Still the best waves I have ever surfed in my life. Will try and dig up some photos.....

I feel your pain. Up this morning at 5.30, onshore dribble. Go home change boards and go for a paddle on the lake, which is brown from all the rain.
Now I'm sitting in my work box, watching great surfing and like you dreaming of waves past.
Kirra 1982 on the way back from classic head high Noosa, with my girl. After a 3 hour session of none stop barrels, I come in and she says "I couldn't get any descent shots of you, I couldn only see the tip of your board!"

Nice Pic!!!!!

What a classic quote - one that you will never forget!!!!! That place was just magic. I recall reading stories about how good it used to be and how its was much better then than in late 90's early 2000's....I am not sure if my imagination would be good enough to stretch that far....my re-collection of that day I had is still crystal clear and its was just absolute perfection machine like pits coming down the point in 6 to 8 wave sets. All you had to do was make the drop.....

Those few days almost had me relocating!!! Surfed Greenmount, behind the point, run back around, jump off the front, go again. I think if you try that now you would land on dry sand??
Your point about, "making the drop," is spot on. Got belted my first two waves, because I stalled. Big mistake, hit the bottom, tuck and accelerate.
Aaaahhhh memories!
By the way, we are still together!!

One of the best stories about Kirra I read was about Luke Egan's dad not wanting to go out because of the crowd. Luke said dont worry about it just wait to I am on a wave and go. Now thats looking after your old man.

Seen Snapper Board riders comp at crowded snapper with the older guys whistling in the groms competing to drop in on them to make sure those competing got waves.

One of the Jack McCoy films has some great Kirra footgage including the comp if I remember rightly. My copy seems to have disappeared so cant remember which one.

Great vid, great photos, gret post Jas.

That vid should be in the text book on how to ride a log, great feet position, doesn't miss step, and that run to the nose is so well measured, doesn't miss step on the way up or back

How'd did your better half go on the Tak?

thanks mate she is loving the tak, compared to her 9'6 (the tak is 9'2) she says it has more float? and more forgiving on a drop... shes loving it and catching more waves than me but thats not hard :)
