Hey Twinkle, a lot of the Burleigh club guys have VW transporters and they put in raised timber floors, anything from probably 150mm to 400mm or so high and slide in their boards (usually in covers) underneath, seems to work well. Its easy to load in the boards, hides the boards from preying eyes and is pretty safe compared to driving with the boards located up at van ceiling height. I can get a few pics and PM them to you if that helps. - Mark
PS - is that a Modern Old Skool board i can see in your pics? (love 'em)

you could just put high bars across the upper most pressed metal section and have two boards side by side, Lfish has his van done this way and it works well.

It's important to keep the boards bagged or you'll end up with wax all over the place on a hot day.

It's a bit of an irritation to have such a quick and easy set up and then having to constantly make sure your sticks are dry and bagged before you put them away.

I once toyed with the idea using specially made sox, not unlike those hanging fabric shelves you sometimes see. They are made from two layers of that cheap tarpaulin material and can be stitched with 75mm high sides and one down the centre. both ends can be open or one can be closed off.

The ends can have a rolled seam with cable inside to stretch from one side to the other so you can fix them high up in the van.

You just push them in and drag them out like a gun in a holster. The only problem that I could not figure out was how to clean inside of them when they inevitably got full of wax.
