If by plastic you mean "glassflex" (like gl or gx etc) then on a longboard:

NO

I personally think they are too stiff but each to their own. And I think they may be double foiled as they were intended as the rears in a quad set, and double foiling IMO serves no purpose in sides on a 2 plus 1 setup - just my own opinion tho.

You were using FG-3s in your SUPs when I was over there, G-XQs are much smaller.
Imo the inner foil makes fins perform much smoother from what ive found and they are an open core fin so there is a fair bit of flex.

Hey deefa - I was running M3s which are a bit of a fave as a side fin for me on sups. I actually like fins with a bit of flex in all the boards I ride and especially in bigger boards and as such I really like the basic glassflex fcs fins and when I get wiz to make all my centres I always ensure they have a nice progressive flex. In recent times I have put people on my sups who have never ridden boards with flexy fins and they have in every case fallen in love with the feel of the fins - I have even sold 3 of my wiz centres in the past 3 weeks to mates who have really got into the feeling of the fin flexing out of turns and they reckon it's like getting on a brand new board. The flex though does take some getting used to but when you are it's damn hard to ride a board with very stiff fins. I rode my fave sup the other morning with boofy and put stiff fins in it for a change and struggled to stay on the bloody board on turns cos I was constantly expecting that little bit of give on tight turns and almost falling off every damn turn.
Sorry about the novel mate - love a ramble as you know

On side fins but a bit off topic 30 years today since Simon Anderson won pipe on his thruster. Couldn't post a good photo so here's one of his head,

Edit here's one, but looks like a single fin

On a smaller mal I reckon it would be awesome - M3s would be better sides I reckon for your size but g1000s are a nice size. If you wanna borrow M3s I got a set you can have.

Actually AC having thought about it for a while I reckon what you are running is spot on for you - just dont run the centre too far forward.

Well the centre fin was made by the best fin maker in the history of the world - as for the sides - well, the less said the better.
