at some Board Porn > Pimpage time

the versatile sunrise...performs great in quad format...really springs out of the bottom turn when set up as quad...and is still suprisingly stable on the nose

ghost grey resin wash...4+4+6...wet rub finish

9'1"x21 3/4"x2 5/8"

the sunrise is proving to be a great all rounder it nose rides excellent and turns sharp in both fin setups..it will perform well in point or beach break conditions and handle a bit of size as well

powder green tint with deep purple inlay

6+6+4....9'1"x21 3/4"x2 5/8"....high gloss finish

7" dolphin with GXL side bites...turns are more direct...very smooth performer in this mode

the "SUNRISE" this model will hang around...and bring a grin to your dial...to date this would be in the top 5 longboards I have ridden

I recognise that headland....some nice looking sticks as per usual from the great man. It surely must be time for someone else to buy a board off him from the Greenroom so we can have another of his mighty build threads - I loved the last one...learnt a lot and felt inspired. Bring it on RG!

They are fantastic looking boards. What weight of rider would suit a 2-5/8 thick board. The reason I ask is that I have a 2-7/8 thick board and I think I need more volume at times.

Its a pop out Mctavish Fireball Evolution SLX Epoxy, 9'1", 22-7/8", 2-7/8".

Its always been fun in the beach breaks on smaller days but i seem to struggle on larger days or when taking it out to the outer reefs.

I'm 109kg, 6'2".

The reason i started to think it was maybe a little small is that I borrowed a larger board (Robert August, What I Ride, 9'6" @ 3") and had a blast.

I would describe my experience level as "struggling to be intermediate".

yep I agree with TB that board you have does not have enough volume....I would suggest something bigger for sure. It will make life a thousand times easier and more enjoyable. Welcome to the Greenroom!!!!!

I'm about your size andwent from what you have to what you rode and its been the best move. That extra volume will really make all the difference.

Mate you've got to be in the 23 x 3 market volume is your friend.
Your wave count will triple as will the fun factor.

Don't forget bottom curve.
Flatter paddles and picks up waves much easier, but more curve is nicer to ride with much more sensitivity and responsiveness.

I recently went flatter with 24+ inches, and it is a whole new world of wave catching a paddling. Cant turn, but neither can I
