Thanks for that Big Spazz - sure looks cold down there. If you ever get the chance to drive over Arthurs Pass on a blue sky day with snow around its well worth it. Heaven. Best to stay nice and rugged up though - or stop on the east side of it and hit a few of the club fields for some powder days on yr snowboard yyyyyyyyeeeeeaah!!!!

I consider myself a pie expert - have spent a large proportion of my life and stomach sampling them from all over. I LOVE their pies!!!! Can not wait to get back there again soon. Did you have their mince and cheese? Or the bacon and egg one for break?......The bakery at Crescent Head has the best pies in Australia I reckon.

Love that area, driven the pass 4 times, paddled the Waimakariri River with my Partner, Camped up under Arthurs in the field (with free Spates). Words fail to describe how nice it is up there.

Girl friend and a good mate did the C2C.

Most Ski "resorts" in 2.5 hours I've ever seen out side of the Rockies.

Stop it - you lads are all making me homesick. No winter trip for me this year sadly and not looking like it will happen next either....it will be another 2 yrs till I get back to the South Island unless there is another earthquake of note sadly.

The C2C is an awesome event - did they do it as a team or solo? Something I always wished I had done.

Solo, 2 day. I was hoping to do the 1 day last feb for the 30th running but that had injury compications so Hope to do the 32nd with the latest injury set back. Best event ever for a support crew, sponsored by Speight's and they give you a mug to use at the tap trailer which is attached to the beer truck yes I will willingly admit to liking speight's!

Little sis's boyfriends grandmother (far out) lives up on the hill above Sumner (if i remember right) made it through the first couple quakes then little sis was there for one of the big ones and all the china (that her grandmother brought over) was smashed bar a couple plates. Still have some friends over there and they are all seriously thinking of moving out which is sad because its such a nice area just had a bad run of luck.

Only thing I'm a bit bummed about is I didn't get to take my mountain bike over for a bit of me time.
