Hi everyone, long time reader 1st time poster. I mainly ride shortboards in and around Perth, but looking for a nice mid-length.

I'm loving the look of the Takayama Scorpion but for the life of me can't find one in Perth. Does anyone know where I can purchase one of these beauties?

Failing the Scorpion I can get a McTavish Sumo relatively cheap for a new board. Based on appearances they look fairly similar in design. What would you guys recommend? Keep trying to track down a scorpion or just bite the bullet on a Sumo.

Either way I'd be looking for a 7' model as I'm 6'3" and 100kg.

Thanks!!

I have a similar shape from the Surfboardwarehouse. Mine model is the Fountain of Youth which they discontinued, but have replaced with another mid-length egg. I love mine and have surfed it from knee to triple overhead. It will be an awesome choice for Perth. Go the Sumo if you can't get the other one. I think you will be surprised how much performance you can squeeze out of it.

I was a fan of the tak a bit more than the sumo. If you hit search you will find a few similar threads that have been done.

I love my midlength more than anything.... It is way different from those boards you have mentioned...

And Ross Rutherford's shop in Scarbourough. He has lots of funky designs you won't see in most "surf" shops. Forgot about him. Certainly worth a look. Soul Boardroom is it?

Just googled. Soul Boardstore or Longboards Scarborough. Great guy with sooooooo much stock.

Justo...what about a Devon Howard model Takayama?
They are so in right now since he's, in country.
Never mind that what about a custom clearwater?
Or are you looking for a used one only?

I would want the tail pulled in a bit. But the same basic idea. Which I am sure Ross could do.

Pulled in like this one:

Actually, looking closer, the Orange one is very similar.
