chrispy said... The cross step has had me perplexed for a year. I did give up easily until I was teased that much a few weeks ago I had no choice......I wish now I tried harder when I started. The going back part is still a bit like me being pissed and hitting a banana peel most times

but so challenging and fun....the more vids and good surfers I watch, well the more I hoot. It really is fn hard, and looks so easy when done by the stylish peeps
you had some good points - number one was just start doing it

.
for me you have to be perfectly balance on that front foot. if your not you can't lift the back foot though to the front- the first movement being the hardest.
second- there are sections or places where your board is in relation to the wave and how much water you have around the board. if the board is 'flooded' with water alround the rails its good to go i find
or the inside rail locked into the wave face
be patient and wait for the right time and place(still a big work in progress)
third- obviously the more you do it the more you learn about it.
fourth- its all fun. baby steps atm but learning and the rate of improvement in the early stages is gold
cheers
ps i want to be able to do one of those real classly cross step stance cutacks
