i made a great purchase last week i walked into the local rip curl store and purchased
two pairs of mirage aggrolite boardies these things are great for surfing.with no stiching
they have like a wetsuit tape that stretches, great thinking.
stretch ...boy can these things stretch
i have two pairs from last year and the seams are holding up

the thing is i got these suckers for $20 bucks a pair with a $100.00 price tag still on them
how can rip curl shops sell these at 80% off.
So are they trying to lure you into buying other over inflated priced items
or is rip curl struggling

It's criminal eh!
Last years stock $20 same boardies this years " new improved" 2013 stock $100
But people still fork out so they still charge it!

Rip Curl Store went bust in Adelaide. Mind you I wouldn't really call it a surf store.

Kong made a few comments in his book on how the surf brands could sell 50 cents of material for massive markups . All about supply and demand .

Missus grabbed me a box of cold water wax ( 30 blocks ) on the gold coast last time she was up there for $1 , so about 3 cents a block of wax . Don't know why Qlders won't buy cold water wax . Down here we can't get warm water wax . All about consumer demand

McHenry the local red herring stores have gone the same way . Basically now are clothes stores stocking surf brands . All the boards and most of the surf accessories have disappeared from the floors .

It is a scam. You pay to be cool and up to date. we have so many factory shops up here it is stupid. my big gripe is that you can buy last season's footy jumpers for between $20-$50 and they are still making a profit. So what is the go charging families $160 for one.
+1 on Hurley shorts. Get them for two for. $60 instead of $200

That is a huge mark down, but I wouldn't be complaining with that score. Big winter sales have been around since I was a grom in the 80's which I guess is like just after a lot of the big names of today really got started. Prices just kept pushing higher & higher as the fashion victims started looking at the summer surfing image as being the in thing. So these guys go out & spend way too much which boosts the stock shares on these companies, keeps the founders on endless surf trips to the ments etc, sponsors the young blokes working hard towards slogging it on tour & paying for it when they get there. Meanwhile we walk in over the winter & grab garments & stuff at pretty much cost price + shipping + whatever & look forward to summer coming so we can get out of our wetties & into them (lil less of a wait for the lucky farkers in Qld)...but I think its a good thing & $20 is bloody good price. I paid $25 & $30 in Bali for my new boardies last May

You see ... this is where HARBOURTOWN - near the GOLD COAST - QUEENSLAND ..... comes into play ..... that lucky little vegemite champion has the inside on this caper bargains to be scored there .... got a wicked fat yiros there too yum
