I just saw this on the internet.

Very sad and thoughts and best wishes go out to the man and his family.

Given the crowds at some of the east coast points I am surprised there is not more accidents like this.

This guy was Matt from the boardroom in Miami.

Matt was a really nice guy, super humble and a great surfer also. He had a wife and 3 kids.

Him and his brother run the Boardroom and my condolences go out to the Hughes family at this time. RIP Matt.

Wow - this is terrible news. Well said CMC. Hope you Qld boys can pull together and help out his wife and kids. Let me know if there is a fundraiser - I would be happy to contribute.

I really can't help but wonder, amongst the sadness, whether a helmet may have saved him ?

It might have saved him but he chose not to wear one everything you do in life is a calculated risk, where do you stop do you wear a helmet to the pub on a Friday night in case you get king hit Does the whole family put helmets on for a Sunday drive I love the freedom and feel of the ocean around me and would never wear a helmet its a risk I know, but one I am prepared to take while its still legal to do so. Look at it for what it is a terrible accident cutting a blokes life short while doing something he loved forget about the "what ifs" mate

Agree Boofy, at this point it is optional, and I support your right to choose. But for everyone that sees the potential benefit of wearing a helmet, I support you even more

When I started riding motorbikes on the farm, we never used to wear helmets, I look back now shaking my head in disbelief.
