Hi there, I'm about to buy my first board! I've been surfing for a month a mate's malibu and I want to buy a mini mali. I'm 172cm and about 68 kg. Is there a big difference between a 7'2 and 7'6?? If i buy a 7'6 wouldn't it be too big once I improve?? I'll be surfing once a week I think, hopefully twice!!

Go big mate it will fast track your surfing trade it in a year if you look after it you will get good coin as a trade.

I would definately go the 7'6 as you will actually surf a lot faster. I learned on an 8'2 and noticed a biiig difference when I tried a friends 7'6. The bigger the better if you want to catch waves.

def 10 foot... not sure they make them any smaller

I've just started surfing myself and I've demo'd a fair few boards. The best board that I found was from a local shaper.... not sure how easy it would be to get one in Brissy, but might be worth a look as you can order online.

With typical mini mals those four inches are really not going to make a lot of difference (noting I am not talking penis envy). I would get the one with the nicer spray and overall look/shape.

If you were comparing 6' 8" fish to 7' 6" mini mal they would start becoming quite noticeably different animals.

The stubby looks good! Though my budget is a little bit smaller... :p
