I had mine catch around a large rock at Crescent just as a decent wave was coming through, not a good feeling!

+1 for the Surfaids, I have one thats 10yrs old and still is the best LB leash I've used for not tangling and discretian, i.e the best leash you feel like your not waering a leash. I've tried Dakine (the worst!!!) O&E, Creatures and the Surfaids is clearly the best.

Guess what legropes i think suck balls? Sure O&E will replace them but too late once the board kills someone and its not worth the drama. 2 O & E leashes and they both broke in the same spot. One was 7' reg and the other a 9' knee. Not good enough. Best leg ropes ive used, or at least never broken is Anticorp off e-bay.

+1
Had an O and E let go in the same spot as well as several other "sewn in " type leggies.
I only buy leggies where the join into the rail saver isn't relying on someone accurately sewing across a cord.
I have had two over the years, different brands , fall apart ,brand new without even catching a wave!

Whatever you buy make sure that you do a couple of very simple things to ensure a good lifespan:-
1. Rinse in freshwater after each and every use in the surf.
2. Coil it up in loops to store.
3. NEVER,NEVER, EVER wrap it around your board and fins.

yes I expect comments about wrapping it around your fins, but I can tell you for sure that ifa leggie is going to snap it will snap where you have had it wrapped across your fins.

I agree totally with you ET, my preference is O&E and I've had no problem and do exactly what you mention...that said I chuck them every 3 years as a safe guard and replace with a newbie...must be Irish..

I've got this Balin cord for the barge. Absolute beast of a thing that nearly tears my leg off on bigger days. Always liked the O&E cords. I always take mine off after surfing and it goes into the bucket to be rinsed with boardies or wetsuit.

I'm not a fan of o&e as i find they coil badly

I'm a balin man again after trying pretty much every brand available.

Will look into the surfaid one after reading some love about them

ET why coil your leash for storage? I did it once by accident after I left it in the wet bucket and it was useless after that (super coiling around my feet/legs while sitting and waiting for a wave) . I had to hang the damn thing with a cricket ball to try and straighten it out

Loose coil Chrispy, I don't do tight.
