How's this for weird?

In over 40 years of driving all over this big brown land, I've never hit a roo, or anything for that matter, perhaps a Blue Tongue and a couple of snakes, but never a roo.

Haven't even come close.

So this morning I'm driving home from Sydney at around 4am, I'm less than 15 minutes from the CBD of the most populous city in the country, on Eastern Valley Way between Middle Cove and Castle Cove, when out of nowhere a roo, or at least a dirty great Wallaby appears out of nowhere in front of me.

I jumped on the anchors and just missed the him.

I see them all the time at the back of my place over on the northern beaches, but that's the first time I've seen them that close to the city.

Its not the ones jumping on the road you want to watch out for...its the ones jumping out of your closet with a ball gag that are the real danger

If he was holding a paddle it would be even better.

obct, probably a big wallaby. They usually have a dark brown tail and feet... those are the common ones through that part.

I had one roo strike in 20 years driving. 100km/hr, truck was coming the other way at night so visibility was bad. Saw nothing but truck lights then, then one silhouette image of a big roo, then Bang, one mangled falcon. Did not see it move at all, could not find the body. Lucky I did not veer into the path of the truck. 14 years ago, remember it like it was just now.

Bloke hit one in front of me coming into Kempsey on the breezers trip, lucky his car had the full bar around it. He looked a bit rattled when I stopped but car and him were okay, Roo was gone.
