And I hope you're lurking.

You're the young guy at our local point on the Sydney Northern Beaches.

You never use a leash.

I've got news for you kid, you ain't that good.

A bunch of us have watched you from the beach for months and we've seen you lose that board more times than we've had hot meals. And there's often some poor sod who has to jump out of the way.

Maybe you need some glasses because you don't seem to even know that there are other people in the water with you.

If Volvo made longboards, you would be the first to buy one.

But your dumb, stupid, idiotic, moronic fin first takeoffs are the cherry on the top of the festering turd cake of your inability.

I was just a short distance away from you today when you tried that dumb trick in crowed surf just as a guy was trying to paddle out a couple of metres in front of you and your 9 inch hatchet was heading straight for his face. I saw the look of terror on your face when you realised what you had done, I saw your eyes as big a dinner plates, and I'm pretty sure I heard your anal sphincter snapping shut in fear.

You did not look cool, you looked like a scared child.

You're just lucky that the guy whose board you hit had more skills at jumping out of your way than you have of riding and behaving like an adult.

I was waiting for him to give you the biggest mouthful under the sun and I have no idea why he didn't.

There were 2 brilliant longboarders out there this arvo, one on an orange board and one on an Aqua board; I know you were watching them. When you can be half as good as them, maybe then you may be able to go without a leash, but as for now, you're just not good enough, or considerate enough.

You should take the camera down and then you can shame him!

Years ago after a few beers and one too many drop-ins from the boys from the Queenscliff Boardriders who thought they owned the place we workshopped setting up a website where you could name and shame people who were idiots in the surf complete with pics....we never got round to it bit someone once told me that some yanks had done something similar - never seen it though.

I'm not sure a name and shame (emphasis on name) would be allowed in these forums for a number of different reasons.

On the other hand I can see nothing wrong with pics / vids posted without names as an example to people of what not to do...

Speaking of no leash fin first take offs Maljam at Curly is next weekend, forecast says small out of the south at the moment but the talent should make the event worth watching.

Maybe this bloke fancied himself a starter.

OB until someone has the fortitude to walk up to him and say, "young man, put a leash on or don't go out" and stand here and make him do it, he will keep doing it until he actually maims someone.

Self regulation is the only thing that will stop the council bringing back the draconian laws we used to surf with.

They think they are to cool for school Mchenry they like to think they never lose their board, a bloke I know nearly cut a womens ear off at Rainbow with his big triple string board she is scarred for life, he still surfs without a leggie a lot up there one of the reasons I dont surf with him much anymore

Maybe just trying to copy a style master like Joel Tudor...

But I see the odd guy down here do it, and the risk generally isn't worth it... Potential shoulder injury from trying to save your board...risk of injury to others, and risk of dinging up your board...

Use a leash... But try not to rely on it.

Best tip ever Simondo I take my kids boards off them and make them swim back to shore every surf its way to easy to rely on your leash and get complacent a big lesson I learned at Moreton at Xmas

Simple tell the goose to put a leggie on in straight forward language such as "put a f**ken legrope on you f**ken idiot" followed up by "you don't want it hitting me"

I have never resorted to physical in the surf - maybe because I'm 6'5 & 100kg but a quick word often works. Maybe no one has ever saud anything to him.

Lucky bastard. I am only 80 or so kg, about 170 cm and often quite placid.  Over the years I have had a lot more physical confrontations than I have had decent baked bloody dinners. Embrasingly, the most recent was seconds of being recorded for prosperity by the local TV network shooting surfing for the weather.

Why don't you educate him face to face?
Posting about it here is entertaining though.

because he did not do it to me, nor did he do it to a child, nor did he do it to anyone who could be considered weaker and than him or in some way vulnerable.

He did it to a fully grown man in the prime of life, (who I suspect was a learner) and who for some inexplicable reason that will always perplex me, forgave him his sins.

Me going crazy bonkers apesh!t at the little turd without the support of the victim and when nothing at all happened to me, would have perplexed everyone.

Especially the overwhelming majority that did not see the saga unfold, all they would see is a perplexed old man going off his nut at some kid for no good reason.

And I would have become the only perplexed victim.
