When i was in high school stickers on your board were very cool. Whats the go these days for us non pro surfers when it comes to stickers?
I have not seen many stickers on boards from the photos on this forum.

If your keen go for it ...personally I don't even like deck grip on my shortboards. Only ever had one sticker on a surfboard & it was applied by the previous owner to cover up a ding. So I guess it could be handy from that pov, otherwise I don't see the point unless it reminds you of some good old days & brings a smile to your face

Back in the 90's this sticker was a must have on the nose of any cool board down here

Looking back, the whole sticker thing was a bit of an ego wank really.

I think sometimes they're very important, but only as a reference and only on the deck.

When I get a board made I always ask for a decal at around 38 inches back from the nose, if I make a board myself, I just paint an X on the deck before I glass it.

But I have had boards that have had nothing there, so I try to find a sticker to put there, anything from Sex Wax to Goodyear or hello kitty will do me, I just need the reference point.

Back in the 80's they were cool, today a total wank unless your sponsored by the companies the stickers represent or pimping something for family or friends.

Good point there having a reference point on the deck.
I must admit they dont do a lot for me. Maybe a little one between the fins or to cover up a ding repair. Saying that I do have that masive Billabong sticker on the bottom of my Rabbiage board.

"Coffee sipping car park surfers". I like that. We got heaps of them in Newy. The worst thing about those guys is, you turn up at the beach and if its over 3 foot theres nobody out. I think to myself "fark there must be sharks about or something". But nup, now I know where everyone is., In the car park sipping coffee. You always get a quiet surf mid week in Newcastle when theres more than a couple feet of swell.

Crowded as **** at 3ft everywhere I look in town. Even mid week is a zoo these days compared to 5 years ago.
