I thought that this thread would be about this

A QANTAS pilot has been cleared of assaulting one of the stars of TV's Bondi Rescue after a magistrate declared she didn't completely believe either man's version of what happened during their surf stoush.

John "Mad Dog" Robson, 51, a lifeguard at Tamarama beach, claimed he was attacked in November last year after telling surfer Mark Aidan Reeve, 31, he couldn't ride his fibreglass board at the trendy spot.

He said Mr Reeve threw his board at his head then tried to punch him in waist-deep water after he told the Qantas pilot to get out of the water because solid boards were banned when the flags were up.

Mr Robson, a 12-year veteran with Waverley Council lifeguards, was left with a cut hand, black eye and bloody nose after the incident.

But in Waverley Court yesterday, magistrate Jacqueline Milledge said there were "as many versions as there are witnesses" when it came to the events that day.

Mr Reeve claimed the lifeguard repeatedly rammed him with his board then tried to drag him to shore using his surfboard leash before he finally had a "brain snap" and threw one punch.

Ms Milledge said he had been "foolish, disobedient and obviously very confrontational" when he insisted on going for a surf - despite Mr Robson clearly telling him he wasn't allowed.

She said she rejected Mr Reeve's claims that he didn't know he was dealing with a person in authority and he thought the lifeguard was a well-meaning ocean swimmer.

But she also said key parts of Mr Robson's story - including that he had never been aggressive, rammed the younger man or grabbed his leash - were contradicted by independent witnesses who were also out surfing that day.

Ms Milledge dismissed assault charges against Mr Reeve, whose mother cried in court after the decision was given, although she warned him to be "very careful in the future".

"Is that surfboard and your independence on that beach worth the anguish your parents have gone through?'" she said.

Mr Robson wasn't in court for the verdict yesterday.

Chrispy's still around a fair bit.
Asea couldn't handle the heat... scared to face Mac at Seabreeze Surf-Off Days at The SuperBank... or maybe just too lazy to drive down the coast!?

Vander's is probably busy working... but sadly MIA.
