I drove one with some friends around the Med in 1998 - it broke down about 40km's outside Monte Carlo....ahhhh whilst wondering what on earth we were going to do several VW'c come around the corner and stopped to help us out....could not fix it but said not to worry - they were off to a VW convention just up the road - we ended up there for a few days getting on the gas whilst they fixed the van up - it went like a dream for the rest of the trip and made it back to London in one piece somehow!
