Week long holiday, where to head? (qld/nsw)

I've got a couple of days off coming up on the roster. So with nine days off, I want to do my first real roadtrip.

Im in the Brisbane area, and I'd like to keep it within 5/6 hours drive from here.

Obviously my first thought was Byron. But now Im second guessing that idea.

Must be beginner friendly, friendly locals, and just a safe area in general.

Ideas?

Byron or Nossa would tick all those boxes - lots of user friendly beachies to play on - nice and warm as well. Further a field would see you heading south towards Coffs Harbour (lots of waves between Byron n there) but then you might need a wetsuit

I think you will have a ball - love to be doing a mid winter escape up there myself.

Have a look at Smorgasboarder magazine.
It's online and free.
smorgasboarder.com.au/
Just click on the read online tab.
Towards the end of the current issue it has a really good piece on the Coffs harbour area.
P.S. I was only joking about the Gumtree add Gumtree!
Couldn't miss an opportunity for an in joke with the minimal quip though.

go to Coffs, Angourie, Valla, Wooli, anything like around that area is EPIC surf with like 5 guys out during peak

I've expanded my perimeter now. Crescent Heads is now on my agenda. :p

Can be a fun time at Noosa, for learners... Warm water. The small swells can still wrap in, with little peelers, perfect for beginners.

You need some small knee high waves, uncrowded, midweek stuff... To get that flow going!

Yep, the plan is to hit it Monday through to Friday, and then get the hell outta there.

Hows up that way for crowds through the week?

its fair to say that everyone is pointing him at places that they do not live at - that just happen to be good places to holiday in and co-incidently have Greenroom people not far from - I think its fair to say that there is a good reason why the correlation between good waves and the Greenroom is so high

I realize old man weiry is probably just pulling my leg, as he seems like a bit of a joker...

But the guys that do legitimately hold that point of view, do they themselves only surf there local spot? Bit hypocritical if not..
