Watched this doco on a Qantas flight to Perth last week, bloody brilliant & a definite must watch!!

I just rented this on iTunes ha ha (wish I bought it) (still might)
I'm only 35 but as a grom I just loved evolution ,a day in the life etc etc.(me and my mates used to wag school get stoned and imagine it was us in those movies ))
To me this is what surfing and living is all about.

The section at the end of storm riders with WL surfing gnaraloo in the early eighties is just about my favourite movie segment ever. Noticed there were a couple of waves from it in the teaser above.

yeah its real good flick ! saw it on flight to lax a while ago definitely a great insight into a wild man from down sth saw another one on the same flight about the guys who found the surf on maldives, great flick also !!

I find it amazing the section on conscription, bloody scary if u ask me,...I'd def do the same if it happened again (hopefully never)
my father served in nam,he isn't the best from his time there!i really wished he surfed!,, how many great surfers were lost in that war?
I'd love to hear any of your experiences with that time in history and how you reacted I understand if it's tough if u served my dad gives me nothing now I'm older he lets a bit out it's not nice. War sux

Finally watched this movie today. What an absolute ripper !! Thanks for the top tip Vanders. In the extras section there is some great insight from Derrick Donner about the early days of tow surfing thats worth a watch as well. All you Victorians should watch this movie - some great footage of your lovely countryside - although good luck working out where some of the spots are!!!

For those that have pay tv this is on Masterpiece at 8:05am today Qld time.

I nearly drowned at the spot where he tells his shark story when I was about 16.
I took off way to deep, pulled in with no chance of coming out and felt the wrath of the mighty southern ocean.

Would love to see Bob bring out something like this.
