Gotta get the caper with this digi camera - still can't nail decent crisp photos but working on it .... some sort of swell arrived today we all got some &
there were sets of shoulder & head rolling in , reef was exposed and crowds too.

Thanks for those shots Pup - looks lovely.

A mate of mine sent me a shot from Mud Bay yesterday - looked good - so I am not surprised you have been getting a few Kagey.

We had the best morning of swell all summer yesterday - insane. This morning it was bigger and straighter (more east in it) but had a bit of morning sickness. Will try and post some pics later when I get home from work - but the early morning shots were a bit crap with all the sea mist. Lovely sunrise though.

I hear ya Deano - its real name chaps is Maori Bay - its normally called Mud Bay because its crap and has black sand!

Most of the time it looks a lot better from the car park than it really is....the problem with the West Coast Auckland beaches is the crowds and the wind and the drive.......oh the water can be cold as well. So yeah stay away I recond!

As for the left Deano I have not surfed it the last few times I have been home to visit so not really sure. But given how much the sand moves on those beaches I would imagine it would still break on occasion.

Here are a few shots from this mornings session back here in the lucky country. There was a load of sea mist early on so I could not get enough light into the lens to give the waves justice. I had also left the tripod at home which did not help matters - but I am sure you get the idea - and I wasn't going to wait for it too clear! The lens was a little dirty as well. Its been smoking here the last 48 hrs and we also had some sun for the first time in what seems ages....tonight though its back raining again and should do for there set of the week. Oh well it still should be a reasonable size in the morning I hope!

Yup it does and it does get big there. I was around the other side this weekend. Funny I went and had a look from the same spot as that photo was taken just before dark, I'll try upload it from my phone. Yeah it is a picturesque place. I surfed in boardies and thin wettie top so it was fairly warm.

Here you go not as nice as the other one but 2-3 ft on this day which made for a pleasant 3 or so hours.
