Hi all,

Given that these have been finished for a few weeks and have now been passed onto their new owners I thought it would be rude not to share with you the latest boards from MKSY.

These 2 boards are twins and are based off the Takayama ITP design. They are hollow wood, handmade boards that require anywhere between 80-100hrs of build time, so not your typical foam/glassed log! Umi (Japanese for 'Ocean) and Nami (Japanese for 'Wave') are constructed from sustainable materials (mainly paulownia) and are far stronger/stiffer than any foam board out on the market. No deck depressions! The boards have been for their maiden voyage and initial reports are very positive.

Dimensions - 9'3 x 23 1/4" x 3"

Anyway, enjoy and please feel free to ask questions.....

NAMI -

Nami's tail -

Nami's fin (Syrian Cedar, Australian Red Cedar, Paulownia) -

Nami's deck details (Rosewood, Syrian Cedar and Australian Red Cedar) -

Dude, real things of beauty they are...

I'm keen as for a Paulownia board, if you haven't already you should watch "The Heart and The Sea" by Nathan Oldfield, its one of my fave surf films and anyway, there's one guy who grows the Paulownia trees from saplings and then processes the timber and creates a board, thats true dedication you rarely see these days, I think it was like a 10 year process... so good

Very very nice boards but those fins are incredible !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep posting more please. I watched a mate build a lovely chambered paulownia board earlier this year - so much time and effort went into it. Your finishes are amazing. How many have you done?

Hi Ted,

Thanks for the feedback. We have only just started building boards so our magic number is currently sitting at 3!! haha

If you like fins, these are my favourite -

Beautiful work, I'd love to have the patience but have to face reality, I don't.
