Hi all, Iam trying to track down a Longboard maker from Burleigh Heads QLD. I ran into this guy over 10 years ago he was an older guy and made theses boards to order. They went by the name "Surfboards that Work". On the day I found him he gave me a tour of the workshop and even a video tape of the boards in action which was pretty flash back then. The boards were gorgeous and I remember he was even shipping them to the U.S. Can any of you guys remember him or know if they still make longboards. I never bought one and really want one now. They were priced at $1000 back then and I never had the cash. Any help would be great. Cheers,

The only board maker I can recall that used that phrase "Surfboards that work" was NaPapa.

Second hand ones appear occasionally on Gummy and Ebay.

Spot on surfbroker,I think his name was Wayne or Geoff and last I saw of the brand there was a showroom at Currumbin on Currumbin Creek Road, most of the boards were made overseas had a very light glass job most boards would not stand up to time.A guy I knew purchased the importing rights from him but things didn't go so well.
Years ago the founder would head to Noosa and give away a massive amount of boards to the guys who were already sponsored and other hot shots and flood the market up there to make serious inroads.

Na Papas work well, if you can find one these days.

He moved the production to China and went out of business quite a few years ago.

Avoid the "pro" model...pretty weak 4oz glass jobs, the normal 6oz ones are reasonably durable.

Hey thanks guys for the info! Spot it it was Na Papa Surfboards, I thought he may be out of business was hoping he wasn't and just went by another name. He was a nice fella. Cheers for the info. In my searching last night I found Noosa Longboards, would you guys recommend Noosa Longboards? I haven't surfed in 10years but really want a nice custom Australian made board to get me back into it. Cheers for the help,

Yep can vouch for the Sweet Love and a pretty versatile log style board and heard good things about the Jive model too.

Or try Pieter longboards in Newcastle

Good luck mate :)

Bambam, great to hear you going for an Aussie made custom board.
Taking nothing away from the other suggestions, Tom Wegener is making boards for Noosa Longboards, he's an absolute gent and legend.
I am currently getting a board made by him and are more than happy, getting pictures sent through of the progress etc
I recommend you call into the shop for a chat to him about what you are after
Not that I have done it often however the whole process of talking to a shaper about a board, seeing its progress throug the construction and then getting the finished article make for a grate experience and adds to the Stoke of the board.
Enjoy
