Hi All.
Want to get a descent tide watch. Am open to suggestions.
Had a R** C**l, which died while in warranty, so they sent me the new version. Trestles?
Anyhoo, it's black on black, really hard to read and now it's fogging up. Just over it. It has a light which makes no difference at all.
Really want something that is easy to read.

Despite my technological ineptitude when it comes to the settings, the vestal watch given to me as a present several years ago, does seem be be very reliable.

The Curls top of the Wazza is a beauty if you are prepared to pay a lot and use all the features.

Other than that from my experience and lots of research:

Curls "Rifles" Full size not mid. Choice of read outs for tide (I prefer the flow diagram) and those I know with one never had a problem, read outs ie time and time are big and clear and well visible in all lights. More Australian local beaches tides than any other brand.

"Brig" as mentioned above, still have one great watch easy read out comfortable accurate easy to set local beach tides etc however had three battery's in mine in two years. Only had to pay for one of those but still a it of a pain, other than that brilliant watch. Cant read the tide at the moment as the battery is getting low (which it tells you) so ive put it away a got another watch...below V

"Low Down 2" Cheaper than the two above. So far so good haven't had it for long. Mines in black and dark face, looks good, unobtrusive and tide is easy to read... however in some lower light situations time isn't which hasn't been the end of the world or annoying but it certainly nothing I've come across before. Tides accurate as is the time and can set to a local beach but that's not so straight forward .....but at least can be done. Not as many Aussie beaches to choose from to set to as the above two and Battery so far is OK but haven't had it long

CASIO Cant say much more than possibly the best value for money EVER in a tide watch. Use mine as a work watch now. got it 7 years ago, still keep's accurate time and tide and have never changed the battery. Setting tide was relatively easy but not straight forward if that makes sense? I prefer a bigger tide read out but this thing is bullet proof and reliable. They have a few options with tide nowadays.

These are the ones I'm familiar with and cam provide feedback on so hope this helps?

I've got Nixon, lo down I think is the model. Had it for about 5 years. Cost me $70 on sale. Works great. I really only wear it when Surfing..display is easy to read and had no problems except a flat battery..

Plenty in the G Shock range . I got one and it tells you barometric pressure, tide, altitude, compass heading ect.

i purchased one of these in November for $200, from the Rip Curl outlet store at the BrisVegas airport DFO.
Was down to $250 on the tag, but they had a store special running that was $50 off on purchases $250+.
Now, before everyone bolts out to grab one at that price, they only had white. A lovely, manly shade of white. But i'll wear that watch in white for $200.

The GPS feature is kinda cool, kinda inaccurate, and kinda boring after you've used it a few times.
That said, it had the best tide library of all the watches that i looked at, something like 1500 locations, whereas most other only had about 500.
That was why i bought the watch, for the tides. At least, that's what i tell anyone that'll listen.

I get mine from the seconds shop in Torquay..usually a 100 bucks and I get a new one every 2-3 years when the old one ****s itself

Any watch that tells me the time and tide that has LARGE font so I can read the dam thing.
