Nice shot! We were lucky that there was minimal erosion on the beaches due to the conditioning of the shoreface and surf zone from the higher wave energy over the previous 6 weeks. The offshore sand bars meant lots of the wave energy was dissipated offshore - restricting shoreline impacts - mainly due to the wind setup and wave runup - which is exactly what has happened on your beach Sandy. South facing estuarine environments were not so lucky. Jimmy Beach at Port Stephens got a good thumping. The broader picture indicates that there is a heightened risk for more of these events this autumn with the warm SSTs on the east coast and NE Indian Ocean - precursors for these types of events.
