I just had a cracking lunchtime burger. Could potentially be a regular now;

Spicy Cheeseburger
Bun - large white bun with sesame seeds and lightly toasted on both sides.
Meat - beef pattie that held together well and not too greasy. I don't go for steak in my burgers as too hard to eat. Steak should be eaten with a knife and fork. Melted cheese over the pattie. Not sure what cheese it was but didn't look like processed slice cheese
Tomato - large slices, rich red but not overripe.
Lettuce - crisp Iceberg lettuce in large leaves. Not shredded, and not that Rocket stuff that tastes like lawn clippings.
Pickle - might have been a bit overdone with a couple of pickles, could have just done with 1.
Sauce - a combo mayonnaise and chilli sauce that was a great mix of creamy and spicy.

It wasn't too big that you couldn't eat it, or couldn't move after it was finished, and a little bit of juice of but not any grease. I didn't have any chips and didn't need any. It was a winner as just had a surf and was hungry and a little cool.

What is you favourite burger?

^^ Shiny Brew at Kingscliff/Salt - $15.

PS. Had my first surf back out front this morning since the fatal shark attack. Had to go on my own. Was a little nervy but had a couple of nice waves. was only out for 45min.

Yeah I couldn't imagine it feeling any different. Large shark spotted at d-bah the other day. Stayed at Peppers for a couple of nights a few weeks ago, enjoyable time.

Things that should be in a burger, and it shouldn't be so big you can't bite it in one go.
You shouldn't need an ambulance to exit the burger consumption site.
The meat, not too tall and round, and not too fatty.
The bun, again, not too tall, toasted and flattened, on the hot plate next to the meat and other stuff..
Cheese - doesn't matter the type or origin, it's just melted stuff.
Bacon - crispy - goes on the plate at the same time as the meat, flipped unneccaserily several times.
Tomato - cooked on the plate but not for as long.
Onion - fried next to the bacon.
Lettuce, but not much. And real lettuce, Iceberg if you want to call it, not stupid leaves that taste like weeds.
Egg, fried, added to the plate towards the end.
No ****ing trendy shredded carrot or capsicum or eggplant or whatever other **** you had left over in the kitchen.
Beetroot, raw and cold, that is to be removed before consumption of said burger, and flicked on to the front window of the burger joint, to slide slowly to the ground leaving a trail of purple stuff.
Possibly pineapple, but getting a bit weird there.
No pickles or other American ****.
Tomato sauce or maybe not.
Lex's on Beach Road Black Rock circa 1984, about 2.00 a.m. was perfect.
Lucky burgers in South Road.
Turkey Tom.s in St. Kilda.

Bacon is for egg burgers, not hamburgers.

I was always a fan of beetroot on burgers but have gone off of late as clashes with pickles

Hahahaha,,, carrot is trendy ****

Pineapple is for pizza no hamburgers

For me you can't beat the classic cheeseburger. Meat, cheese, bun, oninin and sauce of your choice. And I say bacon makes it better.

Home made tonight.
Butcher made beef burgers got taller than ideal while cooking.
Lettuce, tomatoe, cheese, egg, panchetta (whatever that is - looked like wafer thin bacon)
Untoasted buns.
Tomatoe relish.
Brilliant.

This was as assembled. The burger melted the cheese, all squashed down to an eatable height

Not stricktly a burger but steak sandwich tonight.
Sliced off a thin scotch fillet, barbequed, cheese melted on top.
Egg, bacon (OK it was ham, had no bacon). caramlised onion on top.
Lettuce and tomato underneath.
Accompanied by a Coopers Sparkeling.
Brilliant.

I can't believe I'm photographing my food like a millennial

Some great burgers and steak sandwich looks good, well done Mac on losing 3kg.
We make a great home made burger. The beef pattie has changed from premium mince with egg, breadcrumbs, chilly flakes to just adding in a sachet of "Best Burger" mix. Once the patties are mix its important to get them flat as possible which I reuse the plastic bag.
Over Lockdown and our local butcher closed we ended up buying "Angel Bay" burger patties and easy cook 5 minutes each side.
Last year we went on surfing holiday at Whangamata with sister in law and niece and they do their version of works burger.
Everyone has their own likes and dislikes but what I like
bottom bun with cheese on and melted in toasted sandwich maker
Pattie
egg - cooked just enough not to run
Streaky bacon - crispy!
lettuce with piri piri sauce
red onion
avo - spread on top bun

Bring on the Nachos
