Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience with an 8' 6" ITP in Tuflite? I have a glass 9' 4" Model T and a 9' 4" McTavish Noosa 66, plus have had a range of other nose riders and performance longboards, but am wanting something lighter due to injuries and age allowances. I am 5' 7" and 70 kg. Would the Takayama 8' 6" ITP be ok to paddle and can you still nose ride it like a 9' plus board?

Not sure what they come standard in on the other dimensions but at 70 kgs you should be right

I like the idea of getting the board as short as possible without losing too much on the paddle power/glide and the ability to get to the nose. 9' up is the usual go but would the 8' 6" at my weight and height be ok. Thanks.

I have a mate who has one, he loves it.

Hes a big bigger than you ,5/9 and 75-8kgs Id guess.

So someone as light as you should handle it very well.

I had the 9' 6". I am old and hover just under 100kg. Paddled very well and was a great board to surf. At your weight I am sure it would be fine.

i'm 5.5 , 70kgs , the 9ft ITP went well for me , tufflite , very forgiving board .

ITP I took this one 906 23 1/8 3 1/8 o Hawaii great paddle and speed super responsive board

I felt up an 8'6" ITP on the rack the other day. The rails felt beautiful, bet it's awesome fun.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. I didn't realise for how long I've been pouring over this decision until I saw the date of my first post. I've read your comments, read/viewed review after review and finally had the 9' and 8' 6" side by side. Both really nice but I went with the 8' 6" to add to my quiver. Really nice to have this as an option. Looking forward to my first session on the board. Board is waxed and ready to go but howling winds at the moment but will post my impressions on the first session.

Looks great! What's the fin that you have in it?

The fin is a 8" Sunova Orca (actually measures @ 8.5"). A little more sweep that I like but I will see how it goes. I have, and had, more traditional longboards and my aim in purchasing the board and using this fin is get a board as short and light as possible, yet still be able to trim it down the line and walk to the nose. See how I go. Will write a review after a few surfs. I could find no reviews specifically on the 8' 6" online before purchasing the board, other than the kind information provided by breezes on this thread.

There's a used 8'6" ITP tuflite in the same colour as above at Beachbeat Caloundra which basically looks brand new for a really good price.
