after talking to Greg from the mct factory on the weekend,he mentioned a few times that a pin tail is looser than a square tail which has me thinking, what do you think Whats the best HP rear end

Is a square tail ok for a all rounder and is a square tail good for a cruiser

Come on Simondo let me have it

After having a lot of 9 footers I found a round tail is definately smoother through turns. My 10 footer has a round tail as well. It comes down to what you like best.

Yep, rounds, rounded pins, are what I like. Smooth lines.

Rounded Square tail and Squash Tail (rounded pin, converted small rounded square) are great High Performance Bums.... But if you prefer to surf smooth, and draw out turns, glide.... then round tails are better I reckon.

For Mal's, you think Square Tails will go better in small surf, more tail area to get going with.... but rounds still work in small stuff....

(I'm in BrisVegas this week, and next week, if anyone if up for a beer! Torquay at the weekend.)

Yeh thanks Simondo,I've ordered version three with a pin tail.We are also taking some thickness out of the rails but still keeping the 3 inch in the middle about 3 inches either side of the stringer and then tapered down towards the rails.

Also getting a 9 inch fin made for the redline.

Any chance we will see you down here during your visit up north

A pin tail is most definately not looser - it will assist in easier rail to rail transition and is good if you are into big drawn out turns and lots of flowing turns if used in conjunction with a nice vee through the back of the board. If it's loose you want in a mal then a squash tail is the best option IMO.

No Goldie action this week, or next week. Just had dinner with Dad, he popped up here.

Vanders, I'm staying north end, Turbot St, area, and working at 30 Herschel St. There's a pub on the corner, but the pub on the next corner towards Roma is better!
