I've got a 6'6". Swells up. I see me and the reef. Never surfed it, never surfed the board (which has a dodgy fun repair to make things a little more interesting). Anyone keen?

Keen as mate, but unfortunately on the other side of the country. We loved our stay there in 2009...which reef you planning to surf Kings or Moffats, I reckon the river mouth banks or kings would be the go on a 6'6. I had a 6'11 & a big swell when we were there, 6'6 is too short for Moffats imo.

Mick, it's a board I left here 8 years ago so it's very different to what I would choose these days, but it's what I have so it'll have to do. I'm still trying to crunch the Chrissy expenses numbers of if I can leave a mid-length/longboard here. The board should handle the size, but my fitness and arms may not work that well.

I'm not sure of names, but I am eying off that Bombie that's a bit offshore, not the right hand point break (Moffats?). I was here in 07 with a bit of size and the point seemed very sectiony. The outer reef seemed a fair bit better. I only had a 6' twinny so I surfed a weird bank between the two to myself and got a few surprising beachie barrels.

I saw a nice second hand longboard at Classic Malibus in Noosa. I am still tossing up over a lb or a mid-length. Laguna had a sweet 7'6" mid-length that I could push into some size. Why can't I have endless money?

Chrispy, Goldie points with fifty zillion people (maybe out of control beachies?) or a reef with way less people? Mmmmmmm..... Plus, it's my closest surf beach from where we are staying - still 50kms away.

Thanks, Mac, and hope so Cobra.

Ahhh you might be talking about the offshore Bombie about 1/2 a K north of Moffets, I think that needs a lot of swell. Yep the Point break North of Kings Beach around that headland is moffats. Was really fat when I was there & I was struggling on a 6'11 x 18 3/4 x 2.5 medium rockered board while LB's were having a great time, really long waves on the inner & outer point sections. Kings had about 4 different bubbles all no worries on a shortie any shape/dim board with a not so bad number in the water...the rivermouth had heaps of different take off spots with only a couple of people. If that offshore bombie isn't getting enough swell, I'd check Kings & the rivermouth mate...hope ya score & come back with a story for us. Maybe even a few pics
