Jim King has just published my recollections of the early days of West Coast Surfboards.

There's a lot of other stuff on that site if you're interested in WA surfing history

Hey Decrepit, these days the forum is slow so I've put a better link to your story below.

Great read, and you're an inspiration to be ripping at 77 ?

I've torn my rotator cuff snowboarding in August and can't prone paddle so sup surfing although with recent Auckland flooding our beaches are poo-luted but good surf forecast Tuesday ?

Thanks mate, no I've advanced a year since then, but haven't surfed since I was 77.
I'm at Lake George at the moment without surfboard, won't get back to my surfboard for another couple of months, so I'll be very rusty again when I hit the surf.

Great little read - very interesting. I rescued a very 'tired' 1968 Peter Clarke stringerless 7'6" board from a skip bin 3-4 years ago. Was going to do it up to surf, but ended up needing a shoulder recon that kept me out of the water for a while and I just thought it was too small for me... so I did it up as a wall hanger...

For those interested, here it is 'as found'... I know the purists will say leave it as you found it - but my original intention was to surf it - and there were many areas that were either not water-tight or had delaminated...

The original decal was unreadable - but once I cut it out I was able to work it out - then with some googling and assistance from the Sea Breeze Brains Trust I was able to ID it - then found a clearer version on-line; which I provided to a signage company to make me a replica.
