Had one of my top 10 surfs today and hours later i'm still totally feeling the stoke so here's the story...

Its a beautiful mild winters Tassie day and i'm keen as for a Sunday session. I roll down to South Clifton where I surfed yesterday and its dropped off and tiny, no one out... hmmm damn! Anyway i'm heading home and I'm like stuff it, i'll hit North Clifton, it closes out constantly but it'll be ride-able.... and so i make the half km walk in to be greeted by some beautiful shoulder high and machine like punchy peelers, and yes, I have the HL whilst the SubX would be perfect but i'm not going back so I hit it, just me and one mate and it was waaaaay fun and we just cannot believe that there is no one else out, were totally stoked and then something totally rare and unexpected happened which just took the session to the next level, and beyond really...

I pick up this lovely head high peak, take the drop, a bottom turn and set the line, race the steep outside section then lay this sweet soul arc (loving the new Alkali fin, soooooo good ) i'm loving my work and setting the next turn when I look over the back of the wave to see a Humpback beach about 100m away which of course caused me to wipe-out immediately and as I come up i'm thinking "I couldn't have really seen that" only to see him breach again.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAZING!!!! we were then treated to about 45 mins of this beautiful and majestic creature putting on a truly breathtaking show... the sets of the day rolled through ignored and we just took in a moment we will never forget.

This planet can at times be both totally humbling and breathtakingly beautiful and today I feel truly honored to have been a part of it, totally stoked... YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEUW!!

Looks like you snared one that will stay with you for a long time.

Thanks for sharing.

Nothing but envy for you.

the only down side is that, because my next board will be a CW, and I've pretty much decided it well be a performance model, when I hear a stoy like that, I start to think the Hot Log may be a better choice

It may well do that.

I'm not as happy as i could be with the nose rider I've got and I think it may be because it's a rounded pin. Great for throwing around, but not the hot ticket for extended stays up front or those classic longboard turns.

Thanks guys, still feeling the stoke this morning, even though its first day of holidays and its flat the dreams of waves and whales will keep on keeping for awhile i feel... yeeeew

and, gotta say, these were not lb friendly waves, a steep takeoff and then a super fast little drainers and the HL handled it AMAZING. even managed to pull into 2 little kegs but the wave just grabbed the board and tossed me, hence the SubX would have been the better fit but still, was great to see how the HL handled steeper/hollow waves. such an awesome board
