New Board coming so thought I'd think about another board bag as I'm not parting with an old board , so 8pm Wednesday I ordered a new FCS Bag think plenty of time as Mr Hall only does four boards a week . So I was home about half an hour from my morning surf and I see this pretty young thing at the door with a parcel under her arm . The old girl says that'll be the pillows she ordered ,Wrong bugger me it's me board bag So SurfStitch aye not only is the service great(two days) it was $50 cheaper than I could get in NZ.

Next day delivery every time. Not to mention the return slip in the bag if you don't like or need a different size. When you get great price with exceptional service, the local stores really need to reinvent themselves..Fast

Have had exactly the same experience with them. Almost too fast - and i live in the country where I often get told it will take an extra few days for delivery. As mentioned, they keep retail shops on their toes for sure!

All very good..BUT but on the other hand don't cry about the demise of your local Surf Shop..Evolution..Revolution...Substitution..

The electronic age has seen them go the way of the locally built car..sad but true

Well said I could have ordered a new cover online but called into my local store Board Culture and ordered one,its the way I support local business real bricks and mortar stores, the guy who owns it has worked his arse off to make it something,so why wouldn't you support a surf store.

If you live out in the country I've got no issue with ordering online.

I know where they are based Cobra huge shed in an industrial park 5 mins from mine.i've met the boys super nice guys who have a great thing going.

What has always got up my goat are people who go into a store do the touch and feel, try it for size waist the assistance time the owners money and go home and try and google the product for a better price which most of the time they receive.

I avoid stocking product that the wholesalers sells on line fk I've got rent staff and sh-t load more expenses to run my business. The online people do not stock the product, what they do is whack images up online receive an order then order it from the wholesalers and have them deliver direct, heartless business without soul imo.

Not so much a rant just facts, have a look at a site called shoe grab it will blow your mind if your into runners

I agree, i support my local shops extremely well and have running discount cards at all of them. But when i can buy my son his skate shoes for $30 instead of $70 or $80 in store. When i can wear branded surf shorts to work everyday for less than $30 a pair. All that and as i said with exceptional service what can they expect.

One of my locals has started a online section and if i want stock on special i need to order it online anyway.

Talking about online purchases. A local bike/skate shop wanted to charge me $8 to remove a bolt to see if the pegs i wanted to buy for $80 would fit on my sons scooter. I had said i wanted them, but only if they fitted. He offered to lend me the tools, but i needed a screw driver and they only had all allen keys and different sized tools in their borrow box. (they are right next to a skate park so i can understand but when they are looking at making a sale) I have already spent over $900 previously in the last year buying two bikes from the same shop and they know me. Anyway needless to say i ordered them online from Scooter hut. Lets hope they fit when they get here

I buy local because I can afford to. Generally good service. I had a bad experience last year and have received two free blocks of wax, $300 off my next board, and a wetsuit bucket. When I pick up the board, I expect there will be some discount on the accompanying bag and leggie. It might not be as cheap as online, but it does let me talk things through.

And sizing things and then buying online is a dishonest dog act if you ask me.

Of course I am a poor fool who refuses to pirate music or movies and pays for them legitimately as to do otherwise is immoral. So the way the world is moving I get a whole bunch of pirates are laughing at me reaching for my wallet.

He skates also and i agree completely about scooters. What can you do, I'm just glad he's grown out of body boarding. But he is much better on a scooter. I built him a quarter pipe over Xmas as he was skating non stop. He them promptly started scooting again. Worse part is he has just today snapped his second scooter deck in two weeks. Not bad for a 10 year old..Mind you at $350 bucks a go id prefer to be replacing skate decks..

Mac Rhythm i think and RVCA both were bought on special half price. My last pair of Ripcurl boardies were also 40% cheaper then the first pair i bought in the shop.

I tend to buy regulars online and then pick up spur of the moment purchase from shops.

With two growing kids, i also frequent a local warehouse sale, that is attached to a large retailer. Last purchase from their was a Ladies Oneil wetty that was listed as RR$179 but price said $99, however when i actually got to the check out it was only $60

All very well but when you live where I do ,it's the only way to go .I have more stuff than most surf shops round here . The only time I see a decent one is when I go to the Goldie . Now the old girl has had a look making noises about buying shoes FFS. Speaking of that it would be a bloody big surf shop to have the range they have. Whether you like it or not it is the future .

All ears mate one sticks out more than the other but it still works

That was my point some people don't have the luxury of a good store or stores close by so online is fine

So last night my son snapped his Scooter and when i rang them today to chat about a new one, they asked what happened, asked a few more questions and said post it back and we'll see if we can't get warranty as its only just over the 90 day period. Not bad service, so had to order a newie for in-between anyway. Stores that give good service get the bucks, its that simple these days

Fingers crossed on the warranty issue

Next time you are over this way get a board bag made here. I can put you in touch with a good place. Super duper ones are $25 and you normally get 2-3 years of solid use out of them if not more. They even do custom colours - trying getting those from your local shop Great zips and quality all round. Probably more for a longboard though. Will enquire next time I head into the big smoke.

Bowl of rice and there you go China..vs..our Aust system of fairish money and conditions.

I don't have the insight or knowledge of Indo working conditions but they way it is now ..If it can be made OS then that industry is F^*^ed here in Aud

Manufacturing has been rooted here for 10 years.

What a Aus company pays there workers per hour the China production line people are getting paid that for a week.
In Aus most have a production bonus which helps keep the low pay rate,in China if you don't proform there are thousands waiting to fill
your place. Those covers Ted refers too are made in very small stores just out of town 10 mins I nearly stopped at one the other week for a look.
