Just yesterday I was heading into a shory and decided to jump ship and landed heavily on my left foot spraining my ankle. So today I'm a bit of a limp- a- lot.

Just thinking back on some of the past injuries, broken rib where a leggy flung the board back at me. A fin chop missing my left eye by a half inch. Assorted cuts and abrasions from being dragged over the reef.

Never mind the shark issue surfings dangerous enough already.

My worst injury was going over the falls on my SUP and landing across the rail breaking three ribs ****ting , sneezing ,laughing introduces a whole world of hurt. The worst part was me standing at the sink washing up two weeks later and my missus sneaking up on me and doing some sort of heimlich manoeuvre on me sending me into another two weeks of agony

I was surfing a very sucky 15' teahupoo wave, I remember getting in the wrong zone and very very late after the 10' freefall drop i thought it was a soft wave . Then in happened I was sitting in the foam ball just waiting to get spat out when out of the blue this speck of coral got caught under my eyelid I couldn't see where I was going and I had to surf the next 80 meters by feel . After 3 blowouts of the barrel it finaly dislodged the coral just as I was gliding over the shoulder,

cardiac arrest, heart and breathing stopped 5 times- minor nuisance.

boofy, after having my rib cage cut in two and spread open, i think its safe to say i know your pain with your rib injury thing.

a lung infection from sea water meant coughing up stuff that week in hospital- be careful lifting yourself out of bed they said- geez i just about split myself in two coughing up crap

plus had the usual stitches to the head, face and other body parts from fins over the years

didn't do it that tough 'physically' ted, you just do what you have to do and im usually a quick healer. full time rehab for 8 weeks because of my job. a office worker would have be back at his job in say 4 weeks but would have less time just to work on getting fitter and stronger.

plus i could always walk around and do something

sup, short board, dw ing- why even long boarding - its all water/ocean and surfing too me

said before - i've always something to do

Jeepers. Thats good news for you - if it was me I think I would find it tough !!

I am most terrified of fins from someone else's board to be honest. It scares the crap out of me. I have had a few fin cuts and incidents from my own board but the thought of someones else's ahhhhh Been very lucky at times when I have been rolled and landed on the underside of my board and freaked out expecting the worst but coming off scott free. Long may it continue I hope.

i think as you get smarter you learn to ball up, when to cover your head, when to stay down in the water etc.

that comes with experience copping those cuts and stitches and learning from it.

plus a big 666 isn't a board you want hitting you
