Hi all.
My wife and I are looking at Sri Lanka as an option for a holiday around June/July this year.
We are open to suggestions of different locations and ideas. I am not going to carry a board with me, so would also like to know if I would be able to hire a longboard over there.
Not looking for the touristy thing, so happy to try more remote areas, but we are beach people, obviously and would prefer to stay on the beach, with day trips elsewhere.
Would love to hear your ideas. Thanks all.

That time of the year you need to head east for the better waves - head to Arugam Bay and surrounding areas. I prefer the South Coast - but generally not good at that time of the year. One of the best holidays I have ever been on was to Sri Lanka - 5 weeks of bliss. Make sure you explore the old towns and the hills - places like Ella, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Sri Thomas Lipton's Seat. Ride the trains - hang out the side of them. Enjoy some amazing food.

Thanks Ted. Will start checking through those. A friend also suggested the south coast, so maybe we need to change the time of year that we go. Cheers

Hello Sandsy1, on that season if you want to go surfing better go Arugam bay, but it is too touristic. If you want to avoid many tourist, you can always come to Kalpitiya or MAnnar for Kitesurfing (still few tourist comming to these areas). Sincerely, Ruben www.margarita-village.com
